A NOVEL

“RAINDROPS OF MEDICINE”: The Synopsis

Jasmine Morrison is an intellectually sharp medical doctor completing her Neurosurgery fellowship at Gordon Creek Hospital. Although Jasmine has been on a pathway that took years to accomplish, her seemingly ideal life is weighed down with a hidden emptiness. Taylor Harris faces her own set of challenges. As a single mom to Nick, a child suffering with complications resulting from an undiagnosed condition, Taylor knows that her baby boy is on borrowed time.

Jasmine and Taylor’s life crisscross for the first time in a small road rage incident when Nick is being rushed to the emergency room. When Jasmine spitefully discharges Nick because of the freeway altercation, she secretly knows that she’s broken her medical oath ‘to do no harm’. Soon after, an unfortunate accident leaves Jasmine in a state of grief-stricken depression; as a result, she’s admitted into the psychiatric ward of Gordon Creek.

Faced to confront her demons, Jasmine begins to find help through an unlikely friendship. As Taylor’s son’s life continues to hang in the balance, Jasmine must decide the fate of her future. Will she confess and risk implicating herself in a moral & legal battle with large-scale consequences, or allow the guilt of her choices to eat away at her slowly?

Raindrops of Medicine is a story that walks its readers through conflicts and unimaginable circumstances. Through the characters, it’s a story that raises questions on moral reasoning: Is there a price to becoming a better person? When put in an unprecedented position, will you choose to do the right thing? And perhaps, most compellingly: How much in our life is determined by our choices, fate, or karma?
