Building Buildings…
Real estate was never an intentional journey I forsaw traveling. My grandfather was a real estate investor. I guess you can say that desire passed on to my Father who was also a real estate investor.
Growing up, I can remember tagging along as he went to his properties to pick up rents from tenants. It was a daunting duty that never really interested me until later on when somehow starting, managing, and growing a business demanded an understanding on my part to learn many facets within this niche.
Over the years, I’ve had a crash course into buying property, selling property, managing multiple properties and land, rehabbing, owning, wholesaling, leasing, contract negotiation, networking, dealing with both international & domestic tenants, donation acquisition…and now…commercial development and financing. Yep, I’ve been around the real estate block a little bit!
What I realize is that in every aspect of this industry (as with other industries as well) there are businesses within the business. It boiled down to really finding & figuring out, ‘what business within this business pulled at my heart’? For some, it’s becoming an owner/landlord; for others it’s becoming a real estate agent or commercial broker; or for others, perhaps a property developer.
I’m Sure Someone’s Thinking, “Well What’s Your Niche Interest??”
It is both my Dad & my goal to be able to develop building entities, while growing and pushing the missions of DGE’s (my non-profit)! Channeling our energy & efforts into socially, impact-driven developments that increase affordable housing opportunities, revitalize areas of economic decline, create attractive additions, and provide tons of employment opportunities…such as our current Commercial Warehouse Development Project…pulls at my heart.
